Evan and Jaron's Jaron Lowenstein goes solo for Nashville concerts

This month, singer-songwriter Jaron Lowenstein is using his experience as a Hollywood screenwriter to mount a four-concert series at 12th and Porter called “Jaron and the Long Road to Love.”
Of course, that’s not the best-known part of his resume. He’s one-half of Evan and Jaron, the pop duo of twin brothers that had a hit in 2000 with “Crazy For This Girl.” He says the series is “like musical theater, but without the dancing.” Each show weaves a romantic storyline between the songs he performs.
“It’s lot to ask of somebody to listen to 12, 13 new songs,” Lowenstein says. “If you give listeners a context, it’s easier for them to follow a song that they haven’t heard before. People fall in love with songs in movies because they deepen the emotion of a story. In the end, it’s still about the music.”
“Long Road” marks the first serious solo turn for Lowenstein, who relocated to Nashville from Los Angeles last month.
“I came here to do all the work and then take it back out on the road. I want to try different things out. This is a music community. I think (people) will listen to what I’m doing. It all starts with the song. You can have the hard work, and you can have the humility, but if you don’t have the hits, at the end of the day, you’re just a nice guy.” |
